sora reading app - logging in
SORA accounts have already been created for all students in SD46. Follow the instructions below to log in and add collections to your SORA account.
1. Go to the SORA webpage at soraapp.com/welcome

2. Click on "Find my school", then click on "My school isn't listed" at the bottom of the page.
3. Search for "interior" and select "British Columbia Interior / North K-12 Shared Digital Collection", then select the green button that says "This is my school".
4 . Choose "School District 46 Sunshine Coast" and sign in using your student number for both the Username and the Password.
Sign in using your student number as both the Username and the PIN.
Now you have access to over 3000 books!

- (If you're not sure what your student number is, check your Google Classroom email address. If your email address is [email protected], then your student number is 12456. Enter only the numbers into SORA, none of the letters.)

10. If you have a public library card, you may also explore their collections by adding the "British Columbia Libraries" collection. You will need to enter your public library barcode in order to access this collection.

sora reading app - finding books
Now that you have access to SORA, you have lots of options to explore! A good place to start is on the Collections page.
Look for the link to Collections on the right side of the page.

To explore the collections by theme, try categories like Comics & Graphic Novels, It's a Mystery to Me!, and Thrillers and Chillers.
To explore the collections by reading level, try the Elementary Reading Fun, Middle School Must Reads, or Teen Reads categories.

You can also look for books by using the "Search for a book" search bar at the top of the page.
Click the box that says "Search all of my libraries" to get the best results.
Click the "More options" box to search for books in different formats, subjects, languages, and more.

Sometimes a book will not be available because someone else is reading it. In that case, you can place a "hold" on it, and then when the other person has finished reading it, you'll receive a notification telling you that it is available for you to read.
If you are interested in a book but don't want to read it right now, you can "add to list" and find it later in your "Shelf".
